Hemming Jeans and things! OUR FIRST MADRONA WORKSHOP!!
Alterations are a great skill for anyone who likes to modify their own clothing, or friends clothes. Maybe you like to do upcycling projects, or like to thrift cool clothes but sometimes they don’t fit. Learning to hem jeans and things alike is a great way to start.
Class starts at 6pm Monday the 29th of September. We will be in the workshop till roughly 7:30pm. Possibly going till 8pm if people need a little more time.
While the main focus will be denim, we will also explain how to hem other garments as well such as sweatpants and leggings.
The first 3 classes we offer will all be $25/person. After that, all of our classes will be closer to $45 per class. Get a head start on your sewing with this great deal!
Atmosphere:
This first class is mostly gonna be just a fun and chill. We will be using some home machines, and probably a couple industrial sewing machines as well depending on class size. We will be first demonstrating 2-3 different methods of hemming jeans/shorts, and then we will show you how to do the same on your own garments! Helping and answering any questions that come up. And in this 1.5hr-2 hr class, you will likely learn more than just hemming, we will also be talking about thread tension, and ironing, marking tools and cutting properly. Lots of great skills packed into this class.
What you need to bring:
1-2 pairs of jeans you want hemmed, or a friends (must know measurements)
maybe a snack and water bottle
